Hi. My name is Jim Larson, photographer and owner of Positively Digital. I have been involved in photography since my junior high school days. Let's see, that was in 1971. I'll let you do the math as to how long I've been shooting and how old I am. :-)
My interest in photography did not falter as I progressed through my years in school. I became a Nikon fan and had the original FM manual SLR which was a great little camera. I moved back and forth from shooting print film (Kodak Royal Gold 25 was my favorite) to slide film (Velvia - or Velveta as on of my "cheesy" friends named it.)
I was a fairly early adopter of digital, purchasing an Olympus D-490Z, followed by Olympus E-10. That totally sold me on the idea of digital, so all of my film gear went for sale on eBay. Nikon gear has a good resale value I found. Well, it came time for another upgrade of the equipment and there were some pretty cool SLR digitals hitting the market, so I took the plunge and bought a Canon 10D. Nikon was considered, but I had read a lot about Canon and they seemed to be leading in technology at the time. I've been a Canon fan ever since. I now shoot primarily with the Canon 5D MkII and Canon 40D.
Portraits are what I enjoying shooting the most. The range of subjects is anywhere from the "business portrait" to families, kids and seniors for those getting ready to graduate. I've been known to take some great pet shots as well. Weddings are also on my list of things that I shoot, so keep that in mind as you plan for your special day.
